Our Story
We first met in 2007 through mutual friends. From the moment I saw Jen, I was drawn to her. Her smile, her energy, the way she lit up any room. Over the next couple of years, that friendship grew into something deeper and more meaningful. In 2009, we finally took the leap and became a couple. What started as a quiet beginning has become the most beautiful journey of my life.
Fast forward to August 2017. Jen’s birthday and the day of the total solar eclipse that crossed the United States. I knew it was the perfect moment. Months in advance, I gently planted the idea of a trip to view the eclipse in Kansas City, tying it in with a FC Dallas soccer match since Jen loves the sport. She’s not much of a planner, so convincing her took some effort, especially once flights and hotels started filling up. Eventually, we decided on a road trip.
The morning of the eclipse, the sky was thick with clouds. I was quietly panicking, urging us into the car so we wouldn’t miss our chance. We drove east, chasing clear skies, until we found a park full of fellow eclipse viewers. It felt too crowded, so I made an executive decision. I told Jen I was running to the bathroom, scouted an empty soccer field nearby, and convinced her we should move. She wasn’t thrilled about the lack of shade, but I insisted.
As the moon passed in front of the sun, the temperature dropped, darkness fell, and the crickets began their loud evening chorus in the middle of the day. It was magical. In that brief, perfect window of totality, I pulled out the ring and asked Jen to spend the rest of her life with me. Tears filled her eyes as she said yes. It was a moment we’ll never forget.
We originally planned to get married and buy a house in 2020, but life had other plans. Covid delayed everything, and we took our time finding our footing. In 2022, we moved from Dallas and finally settled into the home we bought together. After nearly twenty years together, through all the twists, turns, laughter, and growth, we are so excited to finally celebrate our love publicly with the people who matter most.
This journey hasn’t always been straightforward, but every step has been worth it. Jen makes every day brighter, and I can’t wait to keep building our future together.
